THE NAVAL DISASTER.
London, July 19. At the enquiry to-day Captain Bourke admitted he ought to have reversed the Victoria's screws without orders, and said he would have done so if Admiral Tryon had not been present. Staff Commander T. Hawkins Smith thought that the evolution required about a distance of ten cables. Vice-Admiral Markham adheres to tho details of tho catastrophe as given in hia despatches. He told his Flag-Lieutenant that the movement ordered by Admiral Tryon was impossible. Staff-Commander Smith said Admiral Tryon'u last words just before the ship turned ovei were addressed to the midshipman on the bridge, to whom he said " Don't stop youngster ; go to the boafe." Staff-Commander Smith deposed that Admiral Tryon admitted that the collision was eutirely his own fault,
