Mr Rees at Auckland.
APPROVAL OF HIS ACTION. Auckland, to-day. Mr Rees addressed the electors lasb night. There was a crowded meeting. Ho related in detail the circumstances of the Cadman-Rees episode. The meeting was orderly, and he had au attentive hearing. Tho following resolution was carried :— " That this meeting, having heard Mr Rees' statement, and having considered the finding of tha Napier jury, is of opinion that, in laying the charges against Mr Madman, Mr Rees was only performing his duty as a representative of the people in Parliament!. That the omission of Mr Cad man to apply for a committee of the House for inquiry into the whole matter gives grounds for very strong suspicion that he fears to face a tribunal which is under the circumstances the only body able to clear hia character." The resolution was carried by about two* thirds of the meeting. A few held up their hands against it, and about one-third refrained from taking any part in the
voting,
