[Br. Telegraph.— Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Last mght. In tho Divorce Court to-day a decree nisi was granted in the case of Wurd v. Ward, wife's petition for divorce from Wm. Neville Ward, Solicitor and barrister, of Otaki, on the ground of desertion and adultery. At the inquest to-day on Mrs Simcox, at Cirierton, a verdict whs returned that deceased died from hearb disease accelerated by a dose of belladona administered through a mistake m labelling the bottles. A rider was added, that in the opinion of the jury all poisons should bear a distinctive label. To-day. — A burglar was caughb in a room at the National Hotel, Lambton Quay, last night, next the room in which the landlord kept his valuables. He made a bolt, but was caught and recognised as a man who had served a sentence in Lyttelton gaol. The Railway -Conferenoe has sent a letter to tho Commissioners thanking them for tho way they received the deputation and tha concessions promised ; that if sub-section G, clause 5, is deleted, the present regulations regarding the sick and accident pay shall be extendud to all employees. The young man, Harry Maodonald, who was caught redhanded last night in the act of burglary in the National Hotel, has lieen committed to trial, and another charge has been preferred against him of the theft of a cash box from the Ngahuranga Hotel. The Wellington Building and Investment Company report a net profit for the year of L 2702. In addition to the interim dividend of four per cent., it is now proposed to declare five per cent, more, carry L 750 to reserve fund, and carry forward L 2190 Auckland, Wellington, Christ-church, Dunedin, and Nelson are represented at the Art Exhibition. At the opening today there were a large number of pictures, the walls being covered. AUCKLAND, To-day. The Board of Education decided that ife could not agree to Bishop Luck's request to inspect and examine Catholic schools. Tho Chairman said only 1385 children attended them against 20,000 in Board's schools. Judge Conolly'a residence has been burgled, and a small sum of money and some jewellery taken.
