To-day. — A burglar was caughb in a room at the National Hotel, Lambton Quay, last night, next the room in which the landlord kept his valuables. He made a bolt, but was caught and recognised as a man who had served a sentence in Lyttelton gaol. The Railway -Conferenoe has sent a letter to tho Commissioners thanking them for tho way they received the deputation and tha concessions promised ; that if sub-section G, clause 5, is deleted, the present regulations regarding the sick and accident pay shall be extendud to all employees.
