THE FIRST RATE. Timaki*, to-day. At the Harbor Board meeting the Finance Committee reported that at the end of the year there would be a deficiency of £'245, and the Board agreed to .strike a harbor rate of 'd. At the end of the year they Avill have a balance of f : (590O of loan money. This is to be kept for contingencies, shifting shingle for instance. The Engineer was instructed to bring up a plan and estimate of cost in dealing with the annual drift of .shingle. Four out of nine members urged there was no necessity to ■ipi/nd a penny fur a lun-- time to come.
