PARLIAMENTARY.
(from our own correspondent.) Wellington, last night. Tho Native Lands Court Bill was brought down to the House this afternoon from the Legislative Council with certain amendments. These were of no importance, but they almost jeopardised the Bill. Mr Carroll suggested that an adjournment for a short time should be allowed to consider the effect of the proposed amendments. Sir George Grey followed with a recommendation that the Bill should be withdrawn altogecher until the next session, notwithstanding that it had been already passed through the House of Representatives. The old arguments against the Bill were reiterated. Parata, Taipua, and Taiwhanga suggested an adjournment to half-past seven o'clock. The Native Minister proposed an adjournment of an hour, for it was known that several members were going home by steamers leaving at 7 o'clock for north and south. This proposition was accepted after a good deal of discussion. The Ministers, the leader of the Opposition, and tho Native members held a conference upon the amendments, which were acceptod by them, and eventually by the House. The supplementary estimates were passed in a comparatively thin House, and the Appropriation Bill passed through all its stages. The business of this session will be finished this evoning. Wellington, to-day. The session was brought to a close at 12.35 this morning. The Land Transfer Bill was sent down from the Council with amendments. A conference was held and a partial agreement settled. Mr Carroll could not agree and spoke in favor of the Bill being withdrawn. Mr Taipua followed his lead. It was agreed to excise clause 7. After a good deal of discussion the Bill was nassed.
passed. The Appropriation Bill passed through its final stages, several members reviewing the results of the session, Messrs Fisher, Ballance, and Hutchison being the principal speakers. The Macandrew allowance was confirmed in committe by 29 to 7. The Royal assent was read to the Bills passed during the session, and the House adjourned to Friday. Prorogation will in the meantime take place by Gazette notice.
