Boxing Pay Sports
A Maoki correspondent has forwarded a report of the sports at Pakarae on Boxing Day, at which there was an attendance of about 180, including women and children. Finlay Hapi and five white settlers acted as stewards, George Parau being the secretary. The affair passed off very successfully, the native taking the keenest interest in the events. The following are tho results : — Pakarae Christmas Plate. — Of 4 soys. Hapi's b h Hopeta 1 Eruera te Kura'a g h Teu .. 2 East Coast Distbict Handicap. — Of 5 BOVB. J.Kennedy's ch m Lady Emma 1 Mita'sb h Whangara 2 Wzu: (Sara Stone Cur. — Of 10 aova. Hapi's b h Hepeta 1 Hoera's b m Lady Jane ... 2 Thene were also two Maori races, and 15 horses ran in each event. Foot races, putting the stone, and various other events were also held.
A pitmt medicine advertisement is beaded " What Kills AmericaDß." This ia probably true, but it is a poor recommendation for the mo "iciue.
