DUNEDIN.

Ths day. There were 3000 visitors at the opening of the Dunedin Industrial Exhibition on Saturday. £120 was taken in single admission tickets, and people hdd to be refused admission after 8 o'clock.

Frank Cottrell, barman at the Exhibition, committed suicide on Saturday night about midnight by jumping off the wharf. He had been discharged that night, and having a wife at home confined to beet became low spirited» He left a pocket-book on the wharf giving name and address, and also left his upper clothing. The body was found yesterday.
