THIS celebrated cross-country Horse, whose pedigree is well-known, will stand this season at TE ARAI FERRY. BRIGHAM YOUNG is a very powerful rich brown horse, rising 9 years; bred by Quinlivan, of Wanganui. He. was got by Traducer, ont of Missie, by Nutworth, imported grand dam by Riddlesworth, the winner of the Two Guineas. He also ran second for the Derby in England. Riddlesworth is the sire of Dainty Ariel, Dooh a Dhnrris, Malaga, and old Volunteer, one of the best cross-country horses in the Colony. When a 4-year old, Brigham Young ran his maiden face in the Wanganui Hurdle Race. Among the horses engaged in this race was Wairarapa. He afterwards won the Napier and Wanganui Hurdle Race. Victor was the ■ winner { of the Steeplechase in Wanganui, and j the Wellington Hurdle Race Madora ( is a great winner from the South, having won a great many cross-country races. There were eight others started. This was a fast race from the start, Pat M'Koy winning it on G.zelle, Brigham Young second. Two mouths after, Brigham Yoang ran for the Grand Steeplechase in Wanganui ; 14 horses started. A verj exciting race ensued, several of the horses coming to grief, and two being killed. Here Brigham Young showed himself again to be a true son of Traducer, being a raw colt, 4 years old, and winning the Wanganui Grand Steeplehose against 13 of the best horses in the Island.
