This Day. James McOosh Clark has accepted the nomination for the Mayoralty. There is no likelihood of opposition. Kirika Kipa-who stole 30 soyer-; eigns from the cutter Rangatira, was committed for- trial. The Kingites'.knew nothing of. the murder of ..MMatt until' a "messenger arrived from Tuhua a day or two ago to the King. Major Mair says the Kingites were surprised at the murder, as MoSatt was a Pakeha-Maori and no good reasons have been adduced for his assassination.
