He won the first prize in 1869 as a yearling, beating two-year-old horses. In 1871, as a threa-year-old, he also carried off the first prize against aged horses. In 1872 he carried off the Second prize, being beaten only by President, one of the ' three newly-imported horses. In 1875 he took the Silver Cup for the Beat Draught Entire at the Poverty Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society's Show.
