A Woman and Child burnt to Death.

This Day. A woman, named Margaret Hutchinson'and. heivinfant 4 month's old were burnt to .death at Tucker Flat, on Monday night. The account the husband, David Hutchinson gives is when he reached home from Kauieri, at 11 o'clock at night, he found his wife on a stretcher in the front room, with the baby alongside her. He went into the back room, and retired to rest there, with five children. At 3 o'clock yesterday morning he wag awoke by a glare of light. He rushed into the front room, and found the roof and side walls ablaze. ' He shook his wife, but she never mov^d. He could not get to the front door as it was burning, he ran back to the bedroom, and put the five children out of the window. The house and contents were | entirely consumed. There was a | small fire in the front room and a lighted kerosene lamp on the table. The remains of the body of the woman were afterwards found, but there was no trace of the baby.
