COOK COUNTY COUNCIL.
At a meeting of the above held yesterday, the following report of fchd Committee appointed to enquire as to the legality of Mr. J. Tutchen's election was read and adopted :— Report. Having been duly authorised to investigate the alleged irregularties of Council's officers in connection with Mr. Tutchen's election, your committee beg to report : — First— That on the Assessment Roll for 1879, Mr. Tutchen's name appears to been erased, and that of J. Barten substituted. The alteration has been done in accordance with the ■ Act and duly initialled by the revising Magistrate, H. KenrickEsq., R.M. Secondly — That Mr. Tutchen's name does not appear upon any Electoral Roll for the country. Thirdly — That your committee is of opinion that the Council and officers have not been guilty o£ any irregularity. T. W. Porter, Jas. Woodbine Johnson, Andrew Graham, Tenders. The following tenders were received for the Waikaahu Bridge : — Thomson and William, £250 ; Malcolm McLeod, £185 ; Sommerville Bros., £175 ; Gilmore and Sargent (accepted), £124 15s. A full report of the proceedings is held over for Monday's issue.
