[from our own correspondent.]

Wellington, This Day. The House met yesterday at 2.30. Colonel Trimble gave notice to move that women 21 years of age, on ratepayers' rolls, should be placed on the electoral rolls. Replying to Mr. George, the Premier said the Government did not intend to give effect to the recommendation of the Agent-General that his designation be altered to that of Resident Minister. Replying to Mr. Reid, the Premier said it was not the intention of the Government to appoint a Minister of Mines with an independent portfolio. The adjourned debate on the question of the Speaker issuing a warrant for bringing up Worgan from Wanganui gaol, to give evidence before the Native Affairs Committee, was resumed. After considerable debate, Mr. J. D. Ormond moved an amendment, that the Speaker's warrant should not issue until the committee were satisfied on the bonajid.es of the petition, and that, petitioner was m a positiou to prosecute j the case m a court of law. j Another long debate ensued, which was interrupted by the dinner adadjonrnment, and was continued when the House resumed, until ultimately the House divided, and the amendment was negatived by 44 to 21. The original motion was then carried on the voices. The remainder of the sitting was occupied with private members business. There is no chance of the financial statement being made to-night. It is stated that the Government will amend the Disqualification Act so as to give an office to Mr. Woolcock.
