[from our own correspondent.] NAPIER. This Day. The ship May Queen, from London, arrived this morning, with immigrants fof this places WELLINGTON. This Day. Further inquiry into an outrage at Wairapa a short time ago points to the belief that the man who was horribly mutilated inflicted the injury himself. One of the passengers by the ship Wairoa that arrived the other day is insane. AUCKLAND. This Day. It is understood that the Petere lands to be surveyed is partly on behalf of the Government and on behalf of some private individuals. GRAHAMSTOWN. . . This Day. On Wednesday afternoon, some men digging a trench near the site of the old Kurumri Hotel, unearthed the skeleton of a man. The skull is pronounced to be European, and it is thought that the remains are the relics of an undiscovered crime. CHRISTCHURCH. This Day. Yesterday a woman of respectable appearance, with a baby m her arms, was sentenced to a week's imprisonment for stealing an album. She admitted the charge, and said she had been tempted to steal through want of food. Edgar Osborn, the son of a well-known resident, was charged at the R.M. Court with setting fire to Halea' store a few duys ago. He was seen about the place at the time of the fiie, and his clothes bore marks of tar. He was remanded.
