WELLINGTON. This Day. The cable steamer Agnes is still lying m Worser Bay, unable to work the cable owing to unfavorable weather. AUCKLAND. This Day. There is a great increase of juvenile crime.. There are cases daily at the Court. Two boys were ordered to be whipped yesterday. The Bay of Istanns coal mine has new pumping machinery to clear it of water, and will thus permit of a larger output of coal. NEW PLYMOUTH. This Day. Another casting from Taranaki iron sand — two bogie wheels — were successfully cast by Vivian. Mrs George Connell was yesterday morning found with her throat cut m a closet, and a razor by her side. She had made an attempt at suicide on a previous occasion. The inquest was held yesterday afternoon ; verdict, " temporary insanity." OHRISTCHUROH. This Day. Information has been received that the Governor will visit Christchurch during the race week. A young man, the son of a wellknown resident m town, was arrested yesterday on a charge of attempting to set fire to the drying store of Mr Hall m St. Asaph-street. A barrel of" far had been taken from the yard, where it was lying with six others, and brought round to the front of the building and then fired. Fortunately it was discovered by a man passing, who extinguished the fire before it done other damage than scorch the boards. As the store is amongst a lot of wooden buildings, had the fire got a firm hold and it would have proved very destructive. The young man was remanded till Monday.
