This Day. • ■At the Police Court yesterday, James Smith, tailor, Great King-street, was charged with the murder .of his wife. They had been living apart, and she went to his house on Saturday niyht to claim some money on a maintenance order, and alleged that he then assaulted her. She was found 'lying outside her house insensible, al *d was conveyed, to the hospital where she died. Her leg was f ractnred, and her face and head contused. Prisoner was remanded foi a week pending the coroner s inquest. A magisterial inquiry into the Octagon tire case is proceeding.. -Water.» jb charged with murder and arson.
