PARLIAMENTARY.
[By Telegraph.] [prom our own correspondent.] Wellington, This Day. The House met yesterday at 2.30. After some questions had been replied to, Mr. Hall said that as that was private members' day, the Government did not propose to interfere with that business, but would fix the following day for Mr. Maoandrew's no confidence motion." Mr. Macandrew said the Opposition did not deem it prudent to interfere with Mr. Hairs proposal,' though they were not without a feeling that it was their duty not to allow any business to go on, but of course it would be understood that no Government business would he taken. Mr. Hall assented, and moved the postponement of various Government measures on the Order Paper. On the motion of Mr. Sutton, the Wairoa Harbor Endowment Bill was read a second time. Mr. Gibbs moved for a reduction of the gold duty by Is. After short discussion the debate was adjourned. At the evening sitting, a number of Bills by private members were read a second time. Mr. Acton Adams moved the second reading of the Licensing Amendment Bill, explaining that the object of the Bill was to make the Licensing Fee uniform throughout the Colony. After a long debate, the Bill was read a second time. Mr. Reeves raised a question of privilege. He had received a letter from Mr. Woolcock, advising him to turn over and support the Government. He moved the letter be laid on the table, but after some disoussion, he withdrew the motion. The rest of the Bitting was occupied with the Dunedin Harbor Bill. It is stated that the Government promised an expenditure of half a million on public works in Auckland, with the view of gaining over Messrs. Reader Wood, Colbeck, Swanson, and Hurst. Those members, it is known, have been in receipt of pressing telegrams fr^m Auckland, urging them to desert Macandrew so as to secure "Justice for Auckland." Mr. Swanson denies it, but Reader Wood admits that negotiations have been going on.
