PARLIAMENTARY.
[By Telegraph.] ♦ Wellington, This Day. On Saturday, the Hon. R. Campbell proposed to Mr. J. 0. Brown, the Opposition Whip, a proposal for arranging the present difficultly by a coalition. Mr. Brown took Mr. Campbell down to Mr. Sheehan's house, where the offer was repeated, but unhesitatingly refused by Mr. Sheehan on behalf of the Opposition Committee. Yesterday a meeting of the Opposition Committee was held, when Mr. Macandrew stated that overtures had been made to him for a reconstruction of the Ministry, four members to be chosen from each side with Mr. Whitaker as Premier. The Committee unhesitatingly refused the proposal, and passed a resolution declaring against all coalition, and that the Government be informed that the necessary supplies would be granted, provided Ministers would promise that , the no confidence debate would commence immediately after, and a division taken place before the House rose on Wednesday night. Yesterday afternoon a Government caucus was held, thirty-six being present. The decision was no surrender, and war to the knife. Also to insist on the passage of the Government Bills, and if they could not be carried and unconditional supplies granted, to apply for a dissolution. It is known that the Governor had a long interview with Mr. Hall on Saturday, and from the decision of the caucus, it is thought that Hia Excellency has promised Mr. Hall a dissolution, whether supplies are granted or not.
