WATER SUPPLY.
{To tlie EdAtor of tlie Herald.] Sir, — I am not in a position to give £175, but will give a pint of " sky-blue" every day for six months, and a pint of cream at Christmas, for the best and most economical means of supplying Gisborne with good fresh water. You may think it rather strange a country man taking in interest an the supply of water. I wish the people of Gisborne well. There are many that I like very much, and should like them all if they were to pay their bills every month, as I do not like to make any distinction ; but if they have sickness through the want of water, I am afraid some of them may be unable to. I might receive a benefit by it also, as I am not free from accidents when we upset our "sky-blue" or run short sometimes. Now, if water is laid on, we could make it "sky-bluer." My idea is meant for your Councillors, and on their decision I will perform my promise. — I am, &c, A. Weston.
[To the Editor of the Heratd.] g IRj — Th3 time has now arrived when such absurd and ridiculous mis-state-ments as those which appear in the Poverty Bay Standard of this day's date, in reference to legal affairs which have ocourred of late in this district, should be put a stop to. The writer of these does not soruple to set upon every one's character whether deservingly or not Let him, however, look to himself. What about his Auckland experiences, and what position did he occupy at one time there ? Let him publish it, so that those who do not know at present should be enlightened. I say that the people should at once devise some remedy against the outrageous doings of this kind, and the sooner the snake is scotched the better for the interests of this district. — I am, &c, Temperate.
