PARLIAMENTARY.
[By Telegraph.]
Wellington, This Day. The Legislative Council passed the Public Revenues Act Amendment Bill through all its stages, and adjourned till this evening. The House met at 3.30. Replying to Mr. Murray as to whether the five million loan was floated, Majoi Atkinson said that cablegrams had been received to the effect that the operation was not yet completed. The debate on the Electoral Bill was resumed by Mr. Sheehan, who move<l the question, remarking that the Bill was the measure of the Liberal party, and the present Government did not belong to that party. A long discussion ensued, m the" course of which Mr. Hall stated that if the Opposition would allow business to go on, the no confidence motion would lie taken as the first order of the day for Tuesday. Mr. Macandrew said if Friday were fixed instead, it might be arranged. Mr. Hall could not consent to that, as the Native Minister would not have . his statement ready by that time. The discussion was then continued until it was interrupted by the usual adjournment at 5.30. On the House resuming at 7.30, Mr. Macandrew moved the adjournment of the House. A long and acrimonious discussion ensued. Sir George Grey made one of his usual speeches He spoke of himself as an outcast among men, being onlj* now one of the rank of ' the file. He said that the Opposition had the noses of the Government party to the urindstone, and would keep them there. They • were bound now to take the Liberal measures he had so long contended for, and to follow him into the same lobby and he would drag them to his chariot wheels. He made a strong attack on the Governor for accepting Mr. Hall's resignation of his seat m the Upper House, but was foiled on that point by Mr. Rolleston showing that Sir George Grey, when Governor, had accepted Hall's resignation of his seat m the Upper House, so that he might contest a seat m the Lower House. Finally, at 11 o'clock, the motion for an adjournment was agreed to.
