GISBORNE ROWING CLUB.
A special general meeting of the above Club was held last night at the Masonic Hotel Mr. H. 0. Boy lan, Captain, in the chair, and about 20 members present. . The rules of the Club were passed, and the following gentlemen duly elected members : — Messrs. Adams, jun., Pyke,: Cresswell, and Hart. The old colors of the Club were changed from blue to red, in order to distinguish them from the other Clubs in the district. ■ The Secretary informed the meeting that he was in communication with Mr. Edwards,' of Melbourne, on the subject of new boats, and hoped shortly to receive a reply. On the motion of Dr. Pollen, it was resolved to hold a competition of trial fours in about 8 weeks time, from which could be picked suitable men to form a crew to go into training to compete at the Napier Regatta in about December next. All intending competitors to send in their names to the Secretary not later than Wednesday, the 15th instant. The crews will be cast by the Captain assisted by 2 members of the Committee, and practice to commence immediately afterwards. As it is a rule of the Club that no member in arrears with his subscription 1 is allowed to take an active part in the Chib, it would be as well for all members sending in their names to the Secretary for the trial fours, to forward at the same' time the amount of their dues. The Club promises this year to take the lead of all the Clubs in the district, and it only remains with members to insure its success by forwarding to the Treasurer or Secretary the amount of their subscriptions with as little delay as possible.
