RED PEPPER THEOLOGY.
The Noah's. "An' I saysj says I, fo' God what's dat 1 Is the conimuners riz up and broke loose 1 An' l crept 'long up Bide de fence, I did, and peeked ober, an' bless the Lawd of I didn'jfc see Brudder Jiinson out dar in 'the garden by hisself, a sweariti' an' a perfantivin' an' a rippin' out oafs as ef de berry ole pandeloniuitt had a holt on him." Other witnesses ' gave m similar testimony. The faces of the congregation reflected m lowering frowns the impending doom of Brother Jimson. The pastor asked if that gentleman had anything to say why lie Bhould not be expurified off'n 'de roll, and then Brother Jimson majestically arose and calmly said :; : "I would like to ax ef de Lord didn't make red pepper I" The pastor replied that he did. ; " I would like to ax ef he didn't make it to be planted m the groun' V , The pastor said he did. "I would like to ax ef he didn't make so as it will not come up if de pussum who plants it ain't a-bussin like blazes when he puts it m de groun' ?" A sigh of relief fluttered from the congregation. The pastor scratched his head, eyed his big toe, and then enquired : , . }■■■■-■■". r~~ "An' was you a plantbi' of pepper. Brother Jimson ?" "I was." •■■•.■': '• Well, sir, I renounce you not guilty. Dar ain't nuftht m the Bible *at says a man shan't swar when he's a-Bowing pepper, nohow." Whereupon the meeting adjourned) and the members all shook Brother Jimson's hand. It is rumoured that the fitnesses who testified against him are B^^fctafcg^^^ornotknowing more TAHI DISTRICT.
