Monday. At the wool sales to-day 9,500 bales were catalogued. The tone of the market is quieter. The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 1,820,000 quarters. The Chanderngore embarked at Flushing a large party of French, Swiss, and Belgians, well-armed for New Guinea. The French and Belgian Governments refused to allow them to embark at Havre or Antwerp. It is stated that the vessel will sail under the American flag. Tuesday. Wholesale immigration to America and Australia is advocated as a remedy for the distress among the laboring class. The proposal was received by crowded and enthusiastic meetings at Sheffield and other large towns.
