DEPARTURES.
August. 27 — Hinemoa, Government yacht, Fairchild, for Wellington, with thirty Ngataparau natives en route for New Plymouth. 27 — Penguin, Malcolm, master, for Auckland. Passengers :— Messrs E. K. Brown, S. Kemp, J. Edwards, Ashton, Mr. and Mrs. Turner, child and infant, and Warepapa. 27 — Hawea, Kennedy, for iNapier and Southern Ports. Passengers : — Messrs Pete Kaiaitaina, Whitehead, Waterman, Judge Young, and Miss Gibbs. The s.s. Penguin arrived in the Bay this morning on her maiden trip. She is much similar in appearance to the Hawea, and of about the same tonnage. She is indeed a splendid addition to the Company's fleet of ocean steamers. The Union Co.'s s.s. Ringarooma will leave Gisborne on Sunday, 7th September, for Sydney, thereby reaching that place in time for the opening of the International Exhibition to be held there. Advices have been received of the departure, on the 9th instant, of the ship May Queen from London for Napier with immigrants. On Friday the favorite trader, Helen Denny, Capt. Ruth, arrived at Dunedin. She is expected to be on berth at Napier aB the first wool Bhip for the coming season. Capt. Ruth is still in command.
