" SAVE ME FROM MY FRIENDS."

[To the Editor of the Herald.] Sir,— The letters by '" One of Mr. Johnson's friends ?" (sic), and "An Elector" m your paper of last nightmare not only untruthful, but unfair, and entirely one-sided. Mr. Johnson stated at the public meeting that he was m the hands of his supporters, and oould not retire unless they requested him to do so. As to any declaration that the matter should be. fought out, I am inclined to think that it did hot emanate from him. I can quite understand that any alleged untruthfulness m hvtn should be a matter of surprise, but why is not the other candidate similarly treated. — I am __c, W. H. Tucker.
