4 _ Monday, v The English wheat crops are expected to be 25 per cent, below the average. Consols, 97^, other securities, including Colonial debentures, rule lower. Adelaide wheat is quoted at 49s per 496 lbs. ex Warehouse. The estimated quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 1,560,000 quarters. Adelaide flour, 30s. In the House of Commons, the Irish University Bill was read a third time. The Chancellor of the Exchequer made a statement, defending the policy of the Government with respect to Egypt, which aimed at stopping the previous misgovernment. The prorogation of Parliament is fixed to take place on Friday, ; August 12. < The new series of Colonial wool auction sales opened to-day. The quantity catalogued was 9,300 bales which was m fair demand. The total quantity catalogued to date is 340,000 bales; Lower cross-breds m favor of buyers.
