PARLIAMENTARY.

[By Telegraph.] „

-^ • r ■ '■ [from our special correspondent.] Wellington, Saturday. The House looked very dreary yesterday when it met at noon, barely enough members having remained m Wellington to form a ■quorum. Even the Speaker had left, and so Mr. Seymour took the chair. He announced the Governor's assent to the Bills that had been passed during the session. The Commissioners were Sir William Fitzherbert, Colonel Whitmore, and Sir Dillon Bell. The only noticeable matter was the absence of the Bar to keep the Commons from intruding upon the Lords. Indeed chairs were provided for the accommodation of the former. The innovation is attributed to a remark on the subject that fell from Sir George Grey. Parliament was prorogued formally to the 6rst September, but if the Premier keeps to what he said, the dissolution will take place on or before Friday next. The following is the address of condolence with her Majesty on her recent bereavement : " We, your Majesty's most dutiful and loyal subjects, the House of Representatives of New Zealand, m parliament assembled, take the first opportunity of humbly submitting to your Majesty the expression of our sincere condolence for the loss which your Majesty has sustained by the death of Her Royal Highness the Princess Alice, we humbly beg to assure your Majesty that our feelings of devoted loyalty to your Majesty's throne, and of affectionate attachment *to your Majesty's person lead us to feel deep interest m all that concerns your Rfajesty's domestic relations, and to pray earnestly for the happiness of your Majesty and your Majesty's family. That an address be presented to his Excellency the Governor forwarding the above address, and praying him to transmit the same to Her Majesty's principal Secretary of State for the I Colonies, to be laid at the foot of the throne."
