Auckland, July 25. More business has been doing this week than for a long time past, consequent upon the despatch of an unusually large number of vessels to tho Islands, and storekeepers are increasing their stocks, especially in breadstuffs, in anticipation of an advance. Local millers have advanced flour 20s per ton, and superfine is now held for £14 10s ; household, £12 10s ; Southern brands, from £9 10s to £11 ; Adelaide, £14. Oats are offering freely, at from 2s 6d to 2s 9d. Maize, overstocked. The arrivals this week from all sources having been about 3000 sacks, and the market is glutted; 1800 Backs T l «j>«»n» o f -*»»*• quality, Bold in one line to-day at 3s Id, and medium local at 3s. Oamaru chaff, ex Sophia, £4 5s to £4 10s per ton. Potatoes, overstocked, and the tendency is to lower prices; Canterbury from L5 to L5 10s, and Circular Head, L6 10s to L7. Hams and bacon in demand for prime, but the market is overstocked with indifferent qualities. Salt butter plentiful, and offered at lid to Is 3d. Grass seeds overstocked, and for spring sowing is offered at a reduction upon late quotations. DONEDIN, July 25. Wheat. 4s to 4s 6d per bushel ; fowl's wheat* 3s to 3s 3d ; oats, 2s to 2s 3d per bushel ; barley, 5s to 5s 6d ; feed barley, 3s to 3s 6d per bushel ; potatoes, £5 10s per ton ; hay, £4 ; chaff, £4 to £4 10s ; straw, £2 5s ; bran, £4 ; pollard, £5 10s ; flour, large sacks, £10 ; small, £10 10s ; oatmeal, £4 10s ; pearl barley, £26 ; onions, 12s 6d per cwt ; cheese, 8d per lb ; bacon, 9d per lb ; prime beef, 20s to 27s 6d per 100 lb ; mutton, 2d per lb.
Oamaru, July 25. The grain produce market is little changed. Wheat 4s to 4s 3d, with an upward tendency ; oats, Is lOd to 2s ; flour, LlO to LlO 10s ; other quotations unaltered.
