WELLINGTON.
This Day. There is considerable feeling m town regarding a monster liberal association meeting, to be held here to-night. It is being held apparently to influence the deliberations of Parliament, and it is strongly resented. It will certainly not be a representative meeting of the Wellington people, although doubtless, a crowd will assemble to hear Sir George Grey and Mr. Rees. It is feared that holding such a meeting will prove injurious to the city. The Mayor will not take the chair, although lie is a supporter of the Government. Cooper's case was on all day yesterday before a special jury of the Supreme Court. He was acquitted. Brodie is also oertain to be acquitted.
