July 22> An inquest was held yesterday oh the body of William Gross, one of the employers of the railway, who was killed on Saturday whilst working one of the railway cranes. A verdict of accidental death was returned. . -i The SeraM in a local ou Saturday morning, says :— •" We have seen a cheque for 30a drawn by the General Governnent which was presented at the Bank of New Zealand last week, and returned marked ' N.S.F.* " ' The Tvwpeka Times says that Mr. Scott, .teapuer,. is about to enter an action against the Secretary of the Otago Education Board and all the Dunedin papers, for the publication of the correspondence in connection with a charge against Mr. Scott of falsifyng the attendance roll. The damages are laid at a considerable amount in each case.
