A STAG IN THE DRAWING-ROOM.

A very curious incident in connection with hunting is reported from MidKent. The stag-houdes of that district had met at Offham, and a hind had been enlarged at Fatherton, and after some pottering about and a few sharp bursts, tile ladies from the house of the Hon. E. V. Bligh, near Farthington, returned home with their friends to luncheon. Just after leaving *l»e dining-room, a tremendous Crash 1 li{ glass, and what sounded like a general breakage, was heard ; and, to the intense amazement of all, it was found that the hunted hind had dashed clean through the dining-room windows, and was standing in front of a large Bide board opposite, which had a looking-glass at the back. In this she was gazing most earnestly at her own likenessf-thinking doubtless, that she had met a friend in similar distress to herself. In the meanwhile the hounds had come up, but were drawn off, and all the windows having been thrown open, gentle efforts were made to induce her to leave her place of refuge, no little feat being felt that in her terror she might effect among the f urnitnre and ornaments a . similar disarrangement to that which is credited to a bull in a china shop. However, as soon as her attention waß diverted from her reflection in the mirror, she turned towards the window, and made her escape without doing any further ! damage. The force/ of impetus with which she must have charged the window may be judged from the fact that it was glazed with' plate glass a quarter of an inch thick, and which was considered burglar-proof*
