POVERTY BAY PRINTING AND PUBLISHING COMPANY.

The second annual meeting of the Shareholders of this Company was held last night in the large dining-hall of the Masonic Hotel. There was a large attendance of Shareholders. The Directors', Manager's and Accountant's reports were read, together with a clear statement showing the receipts and expenditure, assets and liabilities, of the Company. The reports and balance-sheet were received and their adoption moved and carried unanimously. The Manager's report showed that since December last, the weekly expenses, incurred on working the several departments, had been reduced by £21 7s 6d, and that since December last, under the present management, £612 15s 8d had been paid off the Company's indebtedness, while £100 had been expended in enlarging the job-printing plant, which was now sufficient for every description of book, pamphlet, and bill work. Since the management had assimilated its printing charges to those made by Auckland firms, more orders had been received than could be executed, until additional assistance had been obtained. The Manager intimated that .the advertising patronage given to the Herald was so considerable, that it was probable he would shortly have to call the Directors together and ask their permission to enlarge the sheet to full news size. The circulation was very large both in town and country, and continued to increase week by week. A vote of thanks was accorded to the Manager, as also to Mr. H. McKay, the accountant, and Mr. H. J. Bushnell, the overseer, and then generally to all hands employed in the Company's business. Of the two retiring Directors, Mr. E. ff. Ward, junr., was re-elected, and Captain Tucker elected in the place of Mr. Allan McDonald resigned. The Shareholders and Directors expressed their approval of the independant but temperate policy with which the Editor controlled the literary department of the Herald. A vote of thanks to Captain Porter, Chairman, concluded the business for which the Shareholders had been called together.
