DUNEDIN.
This Day. At a meeting of the City Council, yesterday afternoon, the Financial Committee were instructed to take immediate steps, and obtain the citizens' consent to a loan of a £100,000 for municipal purposes. HAWERA. This Day. A redoubt is being built bv the Armed Constabulary, covering Waingongoro bricfge. It is generally thought that Government intend settling the Plains question by tailing possession and selling the land. The railway .works are to be commenced immediately, and hurried on as much as possible. The section from Norman by, northward, will be commenced first. The Maoris are quiet.
