This Day. Respecting the smuggling case of a cask of rum, it has transpired, by evidence m the Customs office, that it was shipped on the schooner Madona for the Friendly Islands on May 31. It is understood that Captain Lombard, of the Madona, will be called to account on his return for the discovery of the cask on Rangitoto beach. In addition to the fine, Kean's boat was also seized by the Customs. Messrs. Hobbs and Hamlin met their constituents at Otahuhu last night. Thei*e was a good attendance. Votes of confidence were passed to both candidates.
