A GROWL FROM PALMERSTON ROAD.
[To the Editor of the Herald. ] Sir,— l, on behalf of a large number of ratepayers in the uppor portion of the Borough, desire to claim the attention of the Council or its Engineer to tho almost impassable condition of the further end of the Palmerston Road. The road s^ill reinaihs>in its primitive state, and the surface is a series "of ruts and mounds. Seeing that the Corporation derive a considerable amount in rates from this part of the town, I think it would only be just to the residents that a portion at least be expended in either forming a footpath, or filling in a, few of the lagoons which, in various places, are waist deep. I trust that the Borough Engineer during his visib to the upper end of the town will deem it expedient to give the road the benefit of a few days' labor, or, should we have a repetition of last week's inclement weather, the ratepayers will certainly have to claim the assistance of the Council in providing a punt or some other means of conveyance, in order that they may be enabled to reach their homes. I am, &c, Ratepayer.
