This Day. A boy named John Atcheson was severely shot on Friday at Maketu, by accidentally discharging of the fowlingpiece which he" was carrying. He was taken to the Auckland Hospital. His face is much hurt. The Paknranga Hunt Club met for the first time this season atMcLoughlen's, Papatoitoi, on Saturday. The attendance was very large. Many ladies as well as gentlemen joined in the chase. One lady was thrown, but not severely injured. Later in the afternoon she rejoined in the chase. There was a gt-eat abundance of hares. On Saturday O'Connor of Timaru beat J. Brown of Mercury Bay in a mile foot race for £100 a side.
