May 16. Publication of diplomatic correspondence shows England and Russia have come to an understanding for strict execution of the Berlin Treaty relative to the administrative autonomy of Eastern Roumelia.
A naval engagement has taken place between Chili and Peru, m which Chili was victorious. It was a sharp contest.
Piracy m the China Seas is increasing alarmingly. Severe repression is contemplated.
