Evening Herald Office, April 22th, 1870. At the sale by Ferris and Pitt of Capt. Read's cattle, at Makaraka, yesterday, there was a great attendance, and full prices were realised. They quote : — Calves. £1 17s. tid. ; yearlings, £3 10s. ; steers, £5 to £9 ss. ; he.ifers, £ii ss. to £10 ; cows, £7 ss. to £12 5s. — Horses : A few light hacks were sold at from £4 10s. to £6 ; and light harness horses, £28. Christchubch, April 20. — In the grain market there is very little doing. The following are the quotations : — Wheat, best, 3s. 6d. ; good milling, 3s. 4d. to 3a. ojd. Oats remain the same. In barley, the high rates ruling m Melbourne are attracting the attention of sellers here, and it is probable that heavy shipments will be made for that port. Flour is unchanged. Rye grass 4s, 6d. to 4s. 9d., and sales limited ; potatoes, £5 to £6. O AMARU, April 19. — Grain is coming m freely, and merchants' stores sire rapidly filling, but business is still dull, and there is no change to report. The following are the quotations : — Wheat, 3s. 3d. to 3s. 4d. ; oats, 2s. lOd. to 3s. 2d. ; flour, £8 15s- to £9 ; other quotations as last week.
