MAKING HER OWN TROUSERS.
According to Inspector Mallard, a young lady tailoress, m the employment of Mr. Maurice Hepner, of Upper York Place, ingeniously tried to shield her employer from the penal clause of the Bradshaw Act, on Saturday. On the Inspector paying a visit to the establishment, about 3 o'clock m, the afternoon, he found one of the girls diligently employed on a pair of trousersi " Why are you working at this hour?" asked the officer, " Just for my own pleasure," said the girl with a smile." " And whose trousers have you got, my dear 1" "Onlymyown," wasjthe smart retort.: Mr. Hepner explained that the girl meant she was employed on piece-work, but he was fined notwithstanding.
