AUCKLAND.

This Day. A fire broke out last evening on the premises of Mr. Green, Lillydalo Nursery, One Tree Hill, which completely destroyed a stack of hay valued at £40. The hay was insured for £20 in the Colonial Office. A meeting of solicitors was held this afternoon for the purpose of forming a Law Society for the district. Mr. F. Whitaker was in 1 the chair, and elected President; Mr. Brooknekl was elected Vice-president. The Hineinoa arrived this evening from Kawau with the Premier on board. Sir George Grey has been in constant telegraphic communication with the members of the Government upon tho Waimate squabble. It is understood that he is indisposed to taking any steps which may lead to the breaking up of the peace.
