DuNEDiN, March 24. Mr. Henry Driver reports as follows : — Fat Cattle. — 187 head were yarded, about half of which were good to prime quality, the rest medium and stores. Competition was rather languid, but for really {(rime beef prices ruled about the same as ast week— viz., 27s 6d to 30a. per 1001 b. and from 23s 6d to 25s for mediun. Fat Calves. — Were sold at from 15a to 30s each. Fat Sheep. — The number penned for today's market was 2113— about 1200 of which were good, the balance medium and stores. Best cross-breds brought up to 11s 3d each. We quote mutton at fully 2d per lb. Fat Lambs.— 47s penned. We sold 143 at 6s to 7s 3d each. Store Sheep. — We have buyers for a large number of young merinos, but at present none are offering. Store Cattle. — No transactions to report for the past week. Wool, — The latest cablegrams from London advise — "The wool sales as they progress develop weakness. The present series close on the 27th." In this market buyers are very cautious m their operations. Cross-bred has declined from Id to 2d per lb., since the commencement of the year, merinos from £d to Id. Sheepskins. — We had a large catalogue of nearly 3000 skins, mostly pelts which sold at from 4d to 13d each ; lambskins at 9d to Is 4d each; best wool cross-breds, 4s 2d ; merinos, same. Bides continue m fair demand at 3d to 3£ per lb. for good-conditioned wet-salted. Tallow is m fair demand at lower rates. Fair mixed sold at £34 per ton ; rough fat, 20s 6d. Grain. — Wheat is m better inquiry. For new milling 3s 3d to 3s 6d is offered.
