The sentences passed upon the City of Glasgow Bank directors are generally considered to bd inadequate. The Theatre Royal, Glasgow, has been destroyed by lire. It is firmly believed that the plague will re-appear m Europe m Spring. A new treaty between Austria and Germany annuls the Treaty of Prague, and provides for the plebiscitum of the inhabitants of Schleswig whenever they return to Danish domination as desired. News from Afghanistan states that General Roberts is at Kurram, and General Brown at KhyberPass securing their communications. The British troops are suffering much from cold weather. Two thousand Durames attacked Gen. Biddulph's rear guard on the 26th of January, but they were repulsed with great loss. Desertion from the Afghan army still continues. The correspondent of the Standard has been dismissed from General Roberts's camp, for adding to a telegram after it had been countersigned by Gen. Roberts. Eighty-six persons connected with the Burmese Royal Family have been assassinated by royal orders.
