This Day. There was a lai'ge attendance at the races yesterday, which were a great success. Heavy rain commenced to fall abant 4 p.m., and continued all night. Tliis had the effect of creating a general stampede from the course, many persons being wet through to the skin. The following are the results of the various events : — Maided Plate., 60 Sovs., 1^ Miles. I Powdrell's Hailstorm 1 I Mclvor's Loch Lomond 2 Douglas's Kaokaoroa 3 Betting even on Loch Lomond ; 6 to 4 ngainsfc Hailstorm ; 3 to 1 against Roebuck, Kaokaoroa, and Day and Martin ; 10 to 1 against Dainty. Hailstorm jumped off with the lead, Roebuck and Kaokaoroa in close attendance. This position was maintained for a mile, when Loch Lomond made an effort, but could never get on terms with tho leader, who won easily hy a length. Pohakura ran against a post and seriously injured himself. Railway Stake.s, £30, -£-Mile. Ray's Sinking Fund 1 Henare Tomoana's Never Miss ... 2 Honai Karaka's Moa 3 Betting 5 to 1 on Sinking Fund ; 6 to 1 bar one. Never Miss made pla} r , followed by Sinking Fund to the bend, when Sinking Fund came away, and won in a canter by three lengths, Moa a good third. Napier Handicap, £150, If Miles. Second Horse to receive 20 sovs. from the stakes. Vallance's Pinfire 1 Farmer's Lady Elizabeth 2 ' Knight's Lara 3 Betting 3 to 1 on Pinfire ; 4 to 1 against Lady Elizabeth and Grey Momus ; 10 to 1 against Otupai ; 12 toi against Ika. After a couple of false starts, caused by the eagerness of Lady Elizabeth to get away, a capital start was effected, Ika making the running for his stable companion, Lara and Lady Elizabeth well up, Pinfire taking it easy in the rear. On passing the stand for the first time round, Lara led followed by Ika Pinfire, and Lady Elizabeth. At the back of the course Pinfire gradually crept up, and got level with the leaders. When fairly in tlie straight, Lara fell back, and Lady Elizabeth coming up inside challenged Pinfire, and amidst great excitement ancl loud cheering, came on locked together, but Pinfire running longest won a magnificent race on the post by a neck, Lara third, Ika fourth, Otupai ancl Grey Momus last. Cokinthian - Cup, £40, 2 Miles. Lyon's Tamatea 1 Ilenata's Tawera 2 McLean's Merlin 3 Betting 7 to 4 on Merlin. Tamatea won easily.
