The Union Steamship Company have received advices that their second boat, the Te Anua, -will be completed during August. This is somewhat earlier than was anticipated. It was not intended that she should follow the Rotomoana so speedily, but the company have thought it advisable to press forward her construction, so that they may be able to provide Ample facilities for the large increase of passenger traffic duriug the summer months which_ is expected from the Sydney Exhibition and the increase of trade. The vessel will be somewhat smaller than the Rotomoana, the Te Anua's dimensions being— length, 270 feet ; beam, 34 feet ; depth' 25ft. : 350 horse-power nominal, and she is expected to average 13 knots easily. Her passenger accommodation will be similar to that of the other boats of the line, and she will carry 100 in the saloon. Her tonnage will be about the same as the Wakatipu. The Company have also sent forward an order for a boat to replace the Taupo. She is to be 220ft. long, 30ft. beam, 22ft. deep, with a speed of 124 knots. This boat will be somewhat similar to the Rotorua in style but of greater speed. It is promised that this boat will replace, the Rotorua in the intercolonial trade, and the Rotoroa will be employed solely on the coast. — Monti ihj He-raid.
