PEDESTRIANISM.

On Saturday afternoon more athletics were indulged m after the Boat Race (m which, by the bye, the Heavies were steered by E. Bourke, and not by Fernandez, as erroneously stated m our hurried report on Saturday), two foot races taking place on the Recreation Ground, as follows : — Hurdle Race, 100 yards. J. Freer, scratch 1 J. Elder, 30 yards start ... 2 Freer won very easily, Elder falling heavily over his first hurdle. Quarter Mile Flat Race. J. Maher, 25 yards start ... 1 J. Frier, scratch 2 Mr. J. Vandy despatched the men to a very even start, Frier not getting away with his usual flying advantage (Mr. V. not being a tyro at this business), and Maher, running with very great judgment, managed to win by a little better than a yard and a half. Starter Mr J. Vandy. Judge Mr. Regan. Both races were for £5 a side. About 300 were present.
