SCARCITY OF MONEY.
Says the Argus : — The want of money is felt at ° r this juncture not only by' individuals, but by the Government. We understand that the Treasurer is more hardly pushed for funds just now than has ever the case : before. Negotiations are going oh with the banks for an advance to be made on the security of the debentures into which the 4 per: cent, stock is to be converted ; but the banks, who feel the financial pressure themselves, can not lend on the terms and conditions, the Government propose.
