THE GISBORNE ROWING CLUB.
A very exciting match will come off to-morrow between two picked fours from the members of the Club. Mr. H. Boylan, the captain, has selected his crews as follows :— The Mermaid : Mr. Ratcliffe, stroke $ Mr. Spencer, 3 ; Mr. Skeet, 2; Mr. Mills, bow. The Undine : Mr. Huddlestone, stroke ; Mr. Balneavis, 3 ; Mr. Henderson, 2 ; and Mr. Denniston, bow. The start will be made at two o'clock, on the river, a little, on this side of Mr. Graham's, and will finish at the flag-pole opposite Mr. Crawford's Brewery. The Btarter will be Mr. H. Boylan ; Mr. Crawford, judge ; Mr. Rogan, referee. The Mermaid, with some, is the favourite for first : past the flag, while with others, who profess to be up to a- thing or two m aquatics, the opinion is that the heavy crew will be able to pull round their adversaries, and come m first by ever so many lengths.
