CIVIL CASES.
Kennedy v. Eaton. — In this case, adjourned . from last Tuesday, the plaintiff was non-suited, as the defendant produced^ the required telegram from Mr. Cross of Nelson, stating that the charts claimed by the plaintiff were not the property of the vessel. The defendant also proved his claim to them by right of purchase from Captain Andrews who, according to the telegram bought them of Mr. Cross. Read's Executors v. Kino. — Claim £15. E. ff. Ward for plaintiffs and Mr. Broomfield for defendant. Judgment for the amount claimed on the stay of execution till next Tuesday, when a setoff against it will be put in by defendant. Mahie v. Harekino. — The plaintiff being unwell, and unable to appear, His Worship allowed adjournment of the hearing to Tuesday, the Bth April next. Read's Executors v. R. Brownlow. — Judgment confessed for full amount (£2O 12s. 6d.) Collector Cook County Council v. P. Breingan.— Claim £27, for rates. Mr. E. ff Ward, counsel for plaintiff, applied for an adjournment to Tuesday week, which was granted. Large and Townlby v. A. Frazer.— The plaintiff applied for execution on judgment summons against defendant for £26 195. 9d. His Worship said that in this caae there appeared to be a fraud committed in obtaining the goods on a promise to pay the following morning, and as the defendant was in receipt of a good salary be would order that the amount be paid in instalments of 20s. per week, or, in default of any one payment, imprisonment for one week.
Craig v. Anderson. — £8 claimed for value of saddle lent, and not since returned His Worship non-suited the plaintiff, as the case was not sufficiently proven.
