ORMOND ROAD BOARD.
An extraordinary meeting of the Ormond Road Board was held yesterday. Present : Messrs. J. Villers (chairman), Bach, Bidgood, Ross, and Hamon. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The following tenders were opened for work required on bye road from Mr. Jones's property to Mr. Ohambers's crossing : — Mr. W. Benson, £29 11s. ; Mr. Jas. Climo, £24 10s. ; Mr. D. Maconachie, £27 10s. ; Mr. Peter Jacobs, £30; Mr D. Jones, £22 10s. ; Messrs. Waldron and Bennett, £29 ; Messrs. E. P. andM. Cowen, £18; Mr. Gillicie, informal. The tender of Messrs. E. P. and M. Co won for £18 was accepted. A petition was read from Messrs. Turnbull, Robertson, and others that drains be made on each side of the road from Mr. Skillicorn's house to Mr. Robertson's, leading into the present drains. Resolved, that Messrs. Hamon and Bidgood lay out the drains required, to give the secretary the different grades ; that the secretary, on receipt of same, call tenders immediately, the same to close on March 16, 1879, at 6 p.m. sharp. The Board also resolved to call tenders for forming a bridge on bye road alongside of Mr. Skillicorn's property ; bridge to be 14 feet wide ; also for stripping culvert on bye road leading to Mr. Berry's mill ; both bridges to be gravelled.
Sir Stafford Northcote, not content with the laurels of statesmanship, is about to publish a little volume of plays for children, written by him originally for the amusement of his own family.
