The ordinary meeting of the County Council, which should have been held last evening, lapsed for the reason that there were only two members present, which was not sufficient to form a quorum. The two members were Mr. Woodbine Johnson, Chairman, and Mr. VrLLERS. The latter Councillor had ridden in from Ormond, a distance of twelve miles, at considerable inconvenience and loss of time to himself, and he had to return at late last night, over a bad and dangerous road, with the knowledge that he had made a long journey for no purpose. Mr. Woodbine Johnson, the Chairman, was also greatly inconvenienced and annoyed. There was much important business to transact, but unless a special meeting is convened, the business of the Council will have to remain undisposed of for a whole month. This is not as it should be. Would it not be as well for each Councillor, when lie finds that he will not be able to give his attendance at any meeting to inform the Clerk forty-eight hours previously. He will then know whether there is likely to be a quorum or not. If the latter, then he would communicate with the other Councillors, informing them that their attendance will not be necessary Such a plan would be the . means of saving intending coming members from losing time, and making a journey for nothing.
